If you are on the barcode scanner page and can't get out that is because the "Cancel" button at the top has a bug. I will fix this in the next version 1.9. In the meantime, you can resolve the situation by doing the following:
1) Close the app by hitting the "Home" button on the device once.
2) Remove the app from memory by tapping the "Home" button twice, which will bring up a row of the apps running in memory. Hold your finger on the Shopping List app and that will bring up the "-" sign badge on the app. Then click on the "-" sign on the Shopping List app and that will kill the app.
3) Hit the "Home" button again to return to the normal state.
4) Then restart the app.
